About Umbria
Tour Dates Tour Prices Order a BrochureUmbria has become almost the poor relation of Tuscany in recent years. Well, that's lucky for us, because it's not true and it means it's less crowded.
Umbria has a rich history, with cities dating from Etruscan, Roman and Renaissance times. The food is outstanding, and although Umbria is well known for its truffles, these are primarily a winter dish.
Our highlights will include Tagliate, the local speciality beef of Chianna, and lots of fresh oil and herbs.
The wines of Umbria are also worthy of exploration, particularly the wines of Montefalco and Torgiano.
Above all, Umbria is filled with classical hill towns like Orvieto, Todi, Spello, Assisi and Perugia.
They were constantly fighting with each other, and their legacy of enormous defences sits alongside the frescos and architecture of the renaissance, and the heritage of the local saints of Benedictine and Francis.
A beautiful region, but also a fascinating and tasty region.
